Dean Banowetz & Keith Crary: Hollywood Celebrity Hairstylist & Makeup Artist

Dean Banowetz is known for good reason as “The Hollywood Hair Guy.” He is a seven-time, Emmy-nominated stylist and 11-time Guild nominee with 4 Guild Award wins. In addition to these accolades, Dean authored The Dean’s List of Daddy Do’s. As the department head behind several well-known shows such as American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, World of Dance, and America’s Got Talent, and on the teams of Legendary, The Voice, and Shark Tank, it is no shock that the locks wizard has secured celebrity staples like Lionel Richie, Derek Hough, Leeza Gibbons, Simon Cowell, Jennifer Hudson, and Kelly Clarkson, to name a few.

Keith Crary was one of the most sought-after makeup artists in the entertainment industry until his death in 2019. He worked with Leeza Gibbons during a large part of her tenure at Entertainment Tonight and, later, on her nationally syndicated daytime talk show, Leeza. He also worked with such famous faces as Dolly Parton, Anita Baker, Mary Hart, Deidre Hall, Suzanne Pleshette, and Cher, and on films including Dick Tracy and Batman Returns. Nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for makeup in 1992, and 14 Daytime Emmys in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Makeup, Keith won five Daytime Emmy Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Clown Hall of Fame.

Interviewed by Winn Claybaugh, Dean and Keith offer a unique glimpse into the beauty industry world within Hollywood. The love and passion of these two talented artists will make this MASTERS podcast one of your favorites.
