Monique Coleman: Acting is my passion, advocacy is my purpose

Monique Coleman is an actor, producer, Emmy nominated host, and global youth champion. She currently hosts and executive produces her own original series, “Gimme Mo” through her production company, Mo’tivated Productions. Monique earned a 2019 Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Host for Lifestyle, Children’s, or Special Class Programs category for her work on the show. Her most recent acting credits include the movies for television “Somebody’s Someone” for Lifetime and “Steppin’ Back to Love” for TV One, in addition to the independent features “Phobias,” “The F Happened,” and “Graceland,” and she is still widely recognized for playing Taylor McKessie in Disney’s High School Musical franchise.

Monique works hard to balance her work in entertainment with her passion for impacting the world. In her role as the first-ever United Nations Youth Champion, organized and funded a six-month global tour to 24 countries and raised awareness about the most pressing issues facing today’s youth.

Monique is a longtime Champion for the UN Foundation’s Girl Up Campaign and is the Allstate Foundation’s Good Starts Young Ambassador. She most recently was honored with the Looking Ahead Award for community service.

In this MASTERS classic interview by Winn Claybaugh in 2019, Monique is clear about her purpose to use her celebrity and influence for causes she is passionate about, including the global water crisis, education for young girls, and much more. Monique’s mantra, “Acting is my passion, advocacy is my purpose,” navigates her MASTERS message about giving a voice to those who are “uncounted.”
